Bees may not bee (pun very much intended) everyone’s favourite insect. However they are very important to the life-cycle of our planet, and how can you not love these little pollinators? They may not be the easiest subject to photograph (patience is definitely required to get the perfect shot) but when you get that perfect clear shot they are interesting subjects. Its not always easy to see them in full detail with the naked eye, but armed with my trusted zoom/macro lens I can capture them in all their glory.
Lovely to see these bees enjoying the Verbena bonariensis – it’s great for butterflies too. Having bees and butterflies in the garden is fascinating and very satisfying. 🙂

We’ve tried to plant more flowers & plants in our garden to attract bees and other pollinators. Doing our bit for nature as well as giving me lots of photographic inspiration.

You’re doing the same thing as me. 🙂 If we gardeners all create wildlife havens in our gardens, together we’ll be making a difference to all the little creatures that visit. And enjoying the chance to photograph them!

Nice photos! Bumblebees are wonderful creatures. I find them very hard to photograph because they tend to move around so much, but managed to get some decent photos this summer.

Thank you, they can be tricky little creatures to photograph but so worth it when you get the perfect shot.

You did a great job! What mm macro do you use … 180mm? I have a 100mm which isn’t the best for not scaring anything away. The flower and background are perfect!

Thanks, I have combined zoom/macro lens. The macro lens is 180mm-300mm, it’s perfect for getting those up close shots without having to get too close when photographing insects etc.
