Donside Crows

A few months back while visiting Aberdeen we spent an afternoon exploring Seaton Park, which lies to the north of the city on the banks of the River Don. During all my years growing up & living in the city I hadn’t visited the park until this year. I always assumed it was a small park and gardens, but the park is like a little nature reserve as well as a recreation area.

We followed the banks of the Don round the edge of the park where we came across several nesting Crows. I don’t think I’ve witnessed so many Crows in one place before. They didn’t seem bothered about our presence and were quite happy to be photographed. Although I had my zoom lens, I almost didn’t need it for some shots.

I would definitely revisit Seaton Park, its great location for nature & wildlife photography.

  1. I used to love Seaton Park and walked through most days when I was a student in Aberdeen. I remember being amazed by swirls of a low-lying mist that were a few feet of the ground – it looked quite weird! Good to see the crows, they are such characterful birds.
