Update: Gone Dark

Although I have not written many posts this year, I have spent some time making design updates to my site. The most noticeable being the theme colour. I am quite partial to a dark theme. Most of my devices & apps are set to dark themes (my smartphone, laptop, and even my work devices). So, it felt a natural progression to update my site to a dark theme.

My website/blog has gone through many cosmetic changes over the years. Several years back I decided to move to a light/white theme. Opting for a more crisp & clean design compared to my previous designs. However, it now feels the right time to go back to a darker theme. It must be my 90’s/2000’s goth/emo phase coming back…lol.

before (light), after (dark)

When I read other people’s blogs I’m always curious how many people read blogs in the “reader” view/mode instead of the web browser view. Personally, I love seeing the full design of a blog/site. I enjoy seeing the care & attention people put into the design of their blogs, not just the content. I feel it’s a shame if we only use the “reader” mode, as we lose so much of the full content & design that someone has potentially spent hours creating. I am much more likely to read & invest my time in a blog/site that has some creative effort put into the design.

I have also updated some of the other features as well as the colour of the theme. I’ve tried to ensure the design works well over multiple devices, whichever your device of preference may be. I hope this has worked.

I have mentioned in a few of my previous posts that I have struggled with motivation this year to get out & about with my camera to create & capture new content. I have in recent weeks managed to venture out with the camera on a few occasions . I now just need to find the motivation to review the photographs I’ve captured and whittle them down to my favourites/best shots. I have uploaded some snapshot style photographs to my Instagram account if anyway wishes to take a look.
